2010 Boots and Treads Show PhotosThis is a featured page

Much of the success of this show, our first in 17 years, was due to the support and advice from members of AMPS, in particular Roderick Bell, John Charvat, Roy Chow, Rob Feehan, Pat Keenan, Mike Petty, and Mike Reaves, and with a local assist from James Surratt at the judging table. We also appreciate the volunteers at the Commemorative Air Force who provided the eye candy; Troy Jackson for attending in 101st Airborne jump suit; the accommodating staff of the Fleming Terminal Building; and Mike Powell of Easy 1 Productions and Winston Vermilyea of Wings n' Treads.

Judging
The club was well prepared to judge the 70 models that were entered in the show. Each armor and diorama entry was given a thorough examination against criteria for quality construction, painting, and weathering---as well as composition and story-telling for dioramas---according to the AMPS system. Figures were judged using the Chicago open style.

Seminars
The crowd was riveted by the memories of Jochim "Yogi" Pusch, a veteran of the German 14th Infantry Division who served on the eastern front against the Russians. Yogi related the harsh conditions of combat as his unit pushed toward Moscow and he was wounded.

Later, club members Mark Jacques (U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry, 2nd and 9th Infantry Divisions, 205th Infantry Brigade) and Mike Bedard did a show-and-tell on the gear of US infantrymen in the 1980s and during WWII.

The volunteers at the Commemorative Air Force rolled out several of their vintage vehicles and aircraft, including a B-25 Mitchell bomber, to represent our Air Force.
